Would you like to combine your safari with more active adventure? Let us awaken your sentences with some adventurous activities! We offer a carefully selected mix of adventure-filled tours and outdoor experiences, which at the same time bring you closer to culture and nature.

Timings and programs can be adjusted to the fitness levels and ages of the participants. It is advisable though to book the below activities in advance in order to guarantee availability.

 

Game drive in Lake Manyara National Park

Duration: full day

With the picturesque Lake Manyara at your doorstep, you can explore the national park from early dawn till sunset. Be one of the first visitors in the morning so you have the park all to yourself. Drive from the jungle forest and grassy savanna deep into the south and marvel at the hot springs Maji Moto.
The best time to viewing wildlife is early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Night game drive in Lake Manyara National Park

Duration: 2-2.5 hours

Discover how the bush comes alive after sunset! A night game drive will offer you a completely different perspective of the park and its wildlife. Look out for nocturnal animals like the gracious genets, porcupines and watch hippos grazing alongside the road. Maybe you are even lucky enough to spot the elusive leopards or lions who are on a hunt!

Your drive usually starts at 20.00 hr after an early dinner at the camp.

Tarangire National Park is famous for its large elephant families and the impressive baobab trees. A true gem in your safari in Tanzania and only at one hour drive from Migombani Camp. During your game drive you will regularly pass or follow the Tarangire River, a permanent water source for wildlife in the area. Around midday enjoy a picnic lunch on a beautiful viewpoint, where elephants and other wildlife often come to drink or bathe.

Game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater Tanzania

Duration: full day

The most famous collapsed volcano, also known as the 8th Wonder of the World, can be found at only 45 minutes from Migombani Camp. Descend 610 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater and follow the tracks on the floor of the crater. It is home to the Big 5 including the rare Black Rhino which you might spot just as well as lions, elephants, hippos and hyenas.


 

Mountain biking in Mto Wa Mbu and to Lake Manyara

Duration: 2 or 3 hours (depending on the route)

One of the best ways to discover the fertile area of Mto wa Mbu is by bicycle. A great way to get some fresh air and explore the country life on two wheels! Enjoy a mountain bike tour through the lovely village, passing local farms, schools and churches, combined with some breathtaking vistas of the valley and lake. You may opt to continue to the shores of Lake Manyara to encounter small herds of wildlife like giraffes, zebras and baboons.

The rides are fairly flat and most of the tracks are nice and smooth. Biking is usually done in the morning of afternoon and is accompanied by an experienced mountain biking guide. Helmets will be provided.

Canoe safari at Lake Manyara National Park

Duration: 2.5 hours

Lake Manyara National Park is home to an incredible wide variety of bird life. From the pink-hued flamingos to the Grey crowned crane and Crowned Plover. Probably the best way to explore the rich bird life is from the comfort of a canoe. Paddle gently along the shoreline and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. With some luck you will even see giraffes, elephants and buffaloes grazing close to the water.

This sensible way of game viewing from the water is done in a stable 2-persons canoe.
Note: only possible between end of May and end of August!


 

Treetop Walkway Lake Manyara

Duration: 45 minutes

Experience a sky-high adventure through the lush canopy of the forest of Lake Manyara National Park. With this air walk of 370 meters you will gradually rise from ground level up to a total altitude of 18 meters, while observing the surrounding nature and wildlife from an extraordinary perspective. You will walk over a series of suspension bridges, with secure netting on both sides and each ending at a viewing deck around a tree trunk.

A unique opportunity to enjoy a birds-eye view of the treetops that are home to butterflies, monkeys and birds.

Zipline adventure fly between baobab trees

Duration: 2-3 hours

Is the Treetop Walkway not exciting enough for you? Then we invite you for the adrenaline boosting Zipline! Located at the base of the Rift Valley, the course offers 4 thrilling zips and 5 eco-platforms. Experience the thrill of flying between the ancient baobab trees while taking in the breathtaking views of the Maasai land, the hills and Lake Manyara.

The Zipline adventure starts with a safety orientation, followed by a 20 minutes transfer (by tuktuk) to the Zipline course. It can easily be combined with a mountain bike tour.


 

 

Horse safari

Duration: 2 hours

Whether you are a beginner or experienced rider, a horse safari near the Ngorongoro Crater rim is absolutely an unforgettable experience. Enjoy a relaxing ride through the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater, the cultural village of Tloma and the local farming communities.

The horse riding starts Gibb’s Farm in Karatu and can be combined with a delicious farm-style lunch before returning to Migombani Camp.
